Myristic Acid


  • a long chain saturated fatty acid
  • found in coconut oil and dairy fats
  • the body uses in stabilizing proteins, some of which are used by the immune system and in fighting against tumors
  • necessary for a bodily process called myristoylation, in which this fatty acid attaches with a protein and the two function together
  • epigenetic-type influence on tumor suppressing genes - are able to turn on tumor suppressing genes
  • in general it plays an important role in the activation of cellular functioning
