Capric Acid


  • a medium chain fatty acid found in saturated fats
  • found in whole dairy products, coconut oil and palm kernel oil
  • lactating mothers would be wise to add a capric acid rich food to their diet per the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition article published in 1998 as it increases the amount of capric acid in her milk and helps protect her infant from infections and toxins
  • potent antimicrobial and antiviral properties; antiviral activiy against HIV when paired with monocaprin, found in the body
  • good source of energy
  • a study by Columbia University and New York Obesity Center found that this component helps with fat loss
