Phosphorus


  • along with calcium, this mineral is largely found in the bones and teeth; 2:1 ratio
  • necessary for the utilization of macro-nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins
  • vital for the production of phospholipids, a significant part of the cells in our body
  • plays a role in energy metabolism and the storage and regulation of that energy
  • is a component of RNA and DNA molecules and is necessary for protein synthesis
  • important for the pH balance in the body as well as the effectiveness of B vitamins
